Philosophy Forum 12/11/2015 -Luna Dolezal: Reconsidering the Look in Sartre’s Being and Nothingness

Dear All

‘The Look’ came up in today’s discussion so I thought we could read something about it; to that end I’ve found this paper on the matter. If anyone wants to read the section in ‘Being and Nothingness’ itself, it can be found: part 3, chapter 1, section 4.

The meeting will be in UL102 14:15-15:45.

Philosophy Forum 29/10/2015 -Jean-Paul Sartre: Existential Psychoanalysis

Dear All

Finally abandoning Badiou to the void, the forum will pick up on a thread previously explored only in a German sphere. This time however it is not Boss and Binswanger’s existential psychoanalytic experiment but rather Sartre’s. To be honest I didn’t know he advocated such a turn for psychoanalysis so I’m grateful to Alain for drawing my attention to this.

So this week we will be reading the section of Being and Nothingness entitled Existential Psychoanalysis which is section I of chapter 2 of part 4.

To be clear (and distinct) the meeting will be on Thursday the 29th of October 14:15-15:45 in UL102.

With best wishes
