following the theme of dyad and one I thought we could look at this exciting looking Husserlian treatment of the matter. I have peaked ahead and it does have the Gadamer-Plato thing in there, so don’t feel we’ve veered too far off topic.
The reading is available here and the meeting will be in UL102 14:15-15:45.
this week we follow the esoteric Platonic doctrine thread by looking at a paper on Gadamer’s relation to the Tubingen interpretation of Plato.
The meeting will be in UL102 14:15-15:45 and the reading is available here.
this week the forum will return to the discussion about the relatively recent re-interpretation of Plato (that of the unwritten doctrines). To this end we’ll read a paper by Ugo Pagallo entitled ‘Plato’s Daoism and the Tubingen School’.
The reading is available here and the meeting is in the usual UL102 14:15-15:45.
making a slight leap but still vaguely in the realm of the one this week we’ll look at the introduction and first chapter of Reale’s ‘Towards a New Interpretation of Plato’.
The meeting will be in UL102 14:15-15:45
PS oops I’ve just notice the pdf cuts off the very last paragraph on p22. It’s not long but to finish the chapter read these words:
“which the paradigm throws up. Such matters are not few, especially
when we are dealing with the scholarly reconstruction of a philosopher’s
thought. And if anyone agrees with us on this point he will understand
clearly that, on the basis of Kuhn’s epistemological view, the new paradigm
of the Tubingen School offers bountiful results in advance of the
current state of research for the best and most productive general perspective
of the new inquiries on Plato.”
