Philosophy Forum 17/08/2017-Galloway: The One Divides into Two

Dear All

Look ok so the title doesn’t use the ‘L’ word but he is still around a bit. The reading this week is an exciting looking chapter from Galloway’s ‘Laruelle Against the Digital’. The chapter features a considerable discussion on Deleuze, Badiou and Heidegger and will hopefully go a bit further to clarifying Laruelle’s relation to his ineffable one.

Lincoln Philosophy Forum 02/03/2017 -Martin Heidegger: On the Nature of Language

Dear All

it doesn’t take much of a Martin mention for me to shovel him back in for discussion and his recent Rorty pop-up provides exactly that. To this end I am suggesting we read section one (about the first 10 double pages of the pdf) of ‘The Nature of Language’ .

I would also suggest this small optional reading which might help uncover what on earth he means by Ereignis.

The meeting will be in UL102 14:15-15:45.

Philosophy Forum 16/07/2015 -Mark Sinclair:Inheritance, Originality and the Will: Bergson and Heidegger on Creation

Dear All

pursuing the same thread, this week the forum will look at a paper by Mark Sinclair entitled ‘Inheritance, Originality and the Will: Bergson and Heidegger on Creation‘.

The meeting will be in the same room UL102 14:15-15:45 however the wary reader will note that 16/07 is in fact the Thursday and not the Wednesday.

With best wishes
